A variegated shoot? A flower of an unexpected colour? A seedling with a more compact habit? A plant you are convinced is a new form? This is the way many new introductions start. At The Bransford Webbs Plant Company we trial new varieties every year - in 2007 we trialled 170 new plants. Some of these are bought to us by specialist breeders and some by members of the general public.  Following trials, which can take up to two years, plants that are selected can go on to earn an income for their finder/breeder through royalty payments from sales we make to garden centres. To maximize the potential of the sales of the new plant we work with a group of like minded growers, Plantnet UK. In most case, we will ask you to provide an image and then if suitable we may ask you to send us sample plant (s) to be trialled and evaluated. |
